Background: Combining university education with the management of microenterprises poses challenges for organizing academic, work, and family life. Objective: To make visible the experiences of male university student entrepreneurs and identify barriers and strategies associated with this dual role. Methodology: A qualitative study was conducted in March 2025 with 36 male university students who managed microenterprises at a public university in Sonora. Data were collected through six focus groups using a semi-structured question guide. Participants were in semesters two through eight in business and economics-related programs. Data were analyzed in ATLAS.ti® version 23 using inductive coding. Results: Findings were organized into three categories: negative impact of the dual role, positive impact of the dual role, and solutions or strategies for the student-microentrepreneur duality. Conclusion: The study shows the need to understand the simultaneous experience of studying and entrepreneurship through participants' narratives, with attention to psychosocial challenges and strategies for organizing their roles.
