Background: the quality of secondary education depends largely on teacher performance, representing a critical determinant of student learning and the effectiveness of global educational systems. Objective: to analyze the influence of pedagogical monitoring and support on enhancing secondary teacher performance through a systematic literature review. Methods: the PRISMA method was applied to identify, select, and synthesize empirical studies published between 1993 and 2026 across international databases. Out of 1,247 initial records, 59 met the inclusion criteria and underwent in-depth analysis to extract evidence regarding the relationship between pedagogical monitoring and teacher performance. Results: findings reveal a positive correlation between pedagogical monitoring, instructional supervision, and teacher performance, particularly when these strategies are implemented continuously and through a trust-based approach. Identified enhancers include supervisor training, constructive feedback, and instructional leadership. Conclusion: pedagogical monitoring and support significantly strengthen teacher performance and student learning outcomes. However, research gaps persist in rural contexts and long-term impact assessments, highlighting the need for future studies to address these limitations and expand the evidence on effective educational supervision practices.
