Peer Review Process
The estimated time from acceptance by reviewers to publication is three (3) months. Horizontes reserves the right to suggest formal modifications to accepted articles. All manuscripts must comply with APA guidelines for article presentation.
The quality control system is implemented throughout the editorial process in digital format as follows:
- The process begins with the receipt of article proposals from the author(s).
- The Editorial Committee rigorously evaluates the article for structure, clarity of objectives, coherence of ideas, methodological relevance, strength of results and discussion, conclusions, and references, ensuring pertinence, originality, scientific rigor, and ethical standards. The committee may refer submissions to subject-matter experts.
- Two external reviewers (national or international) are assigned to evaluate the article under a double-blind peer review system. In case of disagreement, a third reviewer is appointed to resolve discrepancies. Reviewers issue recommendations: (a) Accepted for publication, (b) Pending publication or (c) Not accepted for publication.
- The article is then published in the corresponding issue, organized by current and relevant topics.
Evaluation Criteria:
- Compliance with the APA Publication Manual.
- Relevance to the journal’s scope.
