Anti-plagiarism measures
All manuscripts submitted to Horizontes undergo rigorous plagiarism screening to ensure originality. Texts are analyzed using Viper plagiarism detection software to identify overlaps with existing publications, thereby safeguarding intellectual property rights and guaranteeing unpublished work that meets editorial quality standards. As an internationally oriented publication, Horizontes adheres to the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for editors, reviewers, and authors.
Author Responsibilities
Authors submitting to Horizontes warrant that their work is original and unpublished containing no content from other authors or their own prior publications. They further attest to data authenticity and absence of manipulation.
- Authors shall not publish articles duplicating results across multiple scientific journals or academic outlets. Concurrent submissions constitute unethical practice and are strictly prohibited.
- All sources and contributions referenced in the article must be accurately cited.
- Authors must include all individuals who made significant scientific or intellectual contributions to conceptualization, planning, result interpretation, or manuscript preparation. Author order should reflect responsibility levels.
- Upon editorial request, authors must provide research data/sources for reasonable post-publication retention and potential accessibility.
- All authors must explicitly declare any conflicts of interest that could influence results or interpretations, and acknowledge funding sources or projects supporting the research.
- Authors identifying errors post-publication must immediately notify the editors and supply necessary correction materials. Responsibility for published content rests exclusively with the authors.
Reviewer Commitments
Peer review assists editors in editorial decisions and enhances manuscript quality. Reviewers commit to conducting critical, impartial, constructive, and objective evaluations of scientific and literary merit within their expertise.
- Reviewers unable to evaluate a manuscript’s thematic scope or meet deadlines must promptly notify editors. Timely assessments are mandatory due to Horizontes’ strict manuscript custody policies.
- Manuscripts are confidential documents and may not be discussed without editorial consent.
- Reviews must be objective, supported by justified assessments using the prescribed evaluation template. Critical reports with appropriate references are required, particularly when recommending rejection. Reviewers must alert editors to substantial overlap with published or submitted works.
- Reviewers should identify essential bibliographic omissions and report similarities to other publications.
- To ensure objectivity and transparency, manuscripts undergo anonymization prior to review. Compromised anonymity must be immediately reported.
